 MODULE #1:  BEING A CONSCIOUSLY INCLUSIVE LEADER

What does "being consciously inclusive" mean? This module explores the strategies and tips to be "consciously inclusive" within your workplace. Includes:
  • Defining "diversity" via the 5 Layers of Diversity
  • Exploring "microinequities"  and our Top 3 bias "buckets" that impact our view of the world
  • Understanding our own "unconscious bias"and how to mitigate them 

 MODULE #2:  THE SHINY UNICORN THAT IS YOU: BEING AUTHENTIC

 MODULE #3:  ROAR LIKE A LION: HAVING COURAGE

Leadership takes courage ... and being an LGBTQ+ and Ally Leader is just that. This module explores what "courageous leadership" looks like in the workplace jungle. Includes:
  • Defining workplace "courage" and examples of it in your everyday world
  • Identifying -- and overcoming! -- the typical workplace "fears"
  • Embracing "radical candor" and having courageous conversations

 MODULE #4:  YIELDING THE MAGIC FAIRY WAND (OR SWORD) OF EMPATHY

THE BOOK "PRIDE LEADERSHIP"

The foundation of The L.I.O.N.S. Program is the book, "Pride Leadership: Strategies for the LGBTQ+ Leader to be the King or Queen of their Jungle." Each module participants will be directed to a chapter or two relevant to the module's focus. This serves as the foundation for the learning and application.

THE "PRIDE LEADERSHIP" LEADER'S WORKBOOK

The Leader's Workbook is where participants capture their notes and thoughts on the content in each module. From "Drone Reflective Questions" that challenge participants to critically think about their own leadership behavior to the "Mane Development Strategies" or activities participants select and apply the learning from the readings, the Workbook is a vital part of the learning journey.

THE L.I.O.N.S. LEARNING HUB

Each module has its own space on our Learning Hub, or Learning Management System. There participants access all content, see the "Checklist" on what is required for each module, and can easily register for both the Virtual Classroom and Coaching sessions right from the module. THere's also threaded discussion space to engage with fellow participants outside of the classroom in a secure and safe forum.

VIRTUAL CLASSROOM SESSIONS

The 1-hour Virtual Classroom sessions are the opportunity for participants to share what they've learned and how they've applied the module's learnings. Not a "teach at" session but a highly engaging and participative discussion focused on the module's topic. Participants share their experiences with fellow participants from around the globe exploring that same module at that time. Always one if the most highly-regarded experiences in The L.I.O.N.S. Program.

3 1:1 COACHING SESSIONS

Another highlight of the program is 3 45-minute private coaching sessions between each participant and an Executive Coach.

Participants complete a short questionnaire to help them think through their focus for the session, and the Coach models a coaching behavior by asking the participant questions so they come to their own solutions for the leadership challenge at hand.

ONGOING NETWORKING & SUPPORT

During the program participants have access to real humans an email away to help them during their journey.
Also the learning journey doesn't end with the final Action Plan (Module #8). L.I.O.N.S. participants have made connections with other queer and ally leaders in the program and are encouraged to continue those connections.
They are also invited to our monthly Pride Leadership: Leader's Circle open LGBTQ+ and Ally Leadership Networking event to keep the conversation going.

1. What Do I Get for My Program Tuition Fees?*

You get: (1) a copy of the book, "Pride Leadership"; (2) Digital handouts which -- combined -- form the Participant Workbook; (3) A physical version of The Workbook (mailed to you); (4) access to the L.I.O.N.S. Program Online Community (a.k.a. Our Learning Hub); (5) three 1:1 coaching sessions  for coaching, mentoring, and expertise in how you can be an even more effective Leader; and (6) a Community of fellow LGBTQ+ Leaders both during the Program and well after!

2. How Long is This Program?

The program is approximately eight weeks long. While that might seem like a lot of time, the program meets once a week (virtually) for 1 hour to talk about the various leadership competencies / topics of the program, share progress, results of activities, etc. The remaining time is for you to explore the book content, the activities, the reflection questions, and practice the skills of the module's focus. 

Plus: the program is "modular" in nature, meaning you jump in when you want and work through the eight modules after you do the self-paced "Orientation" module on your own. Can't make the weekly session? No worries: you can either (1) watch the recording on your own; or (2) schedule yourself for the next time that module topic is open (usually about 3-5 weeks later). 

3. Is It A Lot of Work?

We're big believers in "you get out of something what you put into it." So you'll gain a lot of learning if you want, or you can be a "tourist" and skate by. You'll be asked to read a chapter (about 25 pages) or two over the week, do a few activities that may take between 2-3 hours over the module, and -- most importantly -- show up for the online virtual classroom sessions where you work with your fellow participants for an hour. But we REALLY encourage you to take this opportunity to develop yourself and fan the flames of your leadership awesomeness. You can do more than the listed activities and engagement points, and the more you do the deeper your learning.

4. What If I Miss 1 or 2 of the Online Virtual Classroom Sessions?

Hey: life happens! You may miss a virtual classroom session here or there and that's cool. If you're going to miss a virtual classroom session then either pick a different module to focus on or skip that particular week. Because of the module nature of the design you can most likely pick up the missing module a few weeks later. 

Also, while you won't get as engaging a module missing that, you can still engage in the Threaded Online Discussions and also watch the recording of the session. 

5. How Do I "Complete" a Module? 

In each module is a Checklist that shows you exactly what you need to complete for the Module. Readings, activities, reflection questions, and participating in the Virtual Classroom Session are pretty standard. Once you've completed all these there's a 1-question "quiz" at the end of the module, asking "Did You Complete it?" Tick "YAAS!" and you're done. Integrity is a big part of leadership, we you're on your honor system to let us know when you're done each module.

6. What Happens After the Program is Over?

We'll have a way for you to connect continually with your fellow L.I.O.N.S. peeps, you'll still have access to the program materials, and we encourage you to share your experience down the road on how you applied the learning. Plus we're constantly rolling out other ways to help bring our Community together.

This is the start of a Leadership Journey, so we don't want you to go away after eight modules! You'll be a L.I.O.N. afterall!
